Why this matters to your business

We solve bigger problems for bigger clients.

As insurance agents we can't touch the investment accounts, and that's where most of our clients' money and most of their problems live. A licensed advisor on our side of the table changes that.

01

The Waterfall needs an advisor

The Safety Engine is insurance: your lane. The Income and Growth Engines are investments, and only an advisor can recommend them. No advisor, no Waterfall.

02

Qualified money needs an advisor

Rollovers and Roth conversions out of Tax Jail are investment decisions too. Our advisors and tax strategists work them together, beside the client's CPA.

03

Secure the perimeter

An outside advisor sees your annuity as money they don't manage. When one team handles everything, there's no outside seat at the table to unwind your work.

04

More referrals

Solve the whole problem and you get invited to bigger tables. A family that gets one plan from one team tells their friends.

The offer nobody else can make: an investment advisor, a tax strategist, an estate attorney and an insurance agent, all on the same side of the table, working beside the CPA the client already trusts. That's a Fractional Family Office, and it is very hard to compete with.

The one rule

We never talk about specific investments.

Zoop Alpha is an SEC-registered investment adviser. Only its registered advisors give investment advice. If you're not registered with Zoop Alpha, you share concepts and make introductions. That still leaves you plenty to talk about.

Concepts you can talk about

  • Why the 60/40 see-saw broke in 2022
  • Why the 4% rule is a guess, and sequence-of-returns risk
  • Tax Jail, RMDs and why Roth conversions matter
  • The nine risks every retirement plan has to answer
  • The three engines of the Waterfall, in plain terms
  • The Family Office idea and our team approach
  • The Bad Tuesday Test and how it scores
  • The insurance products you're licensed to sell

Hand these to an advisor

  • Any specific stock, fund, ETF, note or option
  • How much goes in the Income or Growth Engine
  • Whether to sell, move, roll over or convert an account
  • What their Bad Tuesday score means for their portfolio
  • Returns, past performance or projections of any strategy
  • Advisory fees and how Zoop Alpha is paid
  • Market predictions of any kind
  • Anything in the client's investment statements

The handoff line · use it every time

That's a great question, and it's one for a licensed investment advisor. Would you be against me setting up 30 minutes with one of ours?

Why it protects you

Giving investment advice without being registered can be treated as acting as an unregistered investment adviser. Your insurance license doesn't cover it.

On suitability forms

Don't name the Waterfall Strategy. Describe it as the client's broader investment portfolio. Annuity amounts are set after the advisor meets the client.

Want to be paid on investments?

Unlicensed agents aren't paid on investment business. Series 65 holders can refer as IAR solicitors under a written agreement. Talk with Robert Johnson or Ed Bertelsen, Chief Compliance Officer, before you refer anyone for pay.

The Investing Philosophy, in plain English

Plan for the bad days, not just the normal ones.

You don't need to explain portfolios. You need to tell the story well enough that your client wants to hear the rest from an advisor. Four convictions sit behind everything Zoop Alpha builds.

01

Plan for the bad days first

A handful of bad days decide most outcomes. Start from the worst case and build from there.

02

Give every dollar one job

Protection, income and growth are different jobs. One portfolio doing all three is how families sell at the bottom.

03

Engineer for risk

More risk isn't the only path to more return. How a portfolio is built matters as much as what's in it.

04

One team, one plan

Investment, tax, insurance and legal decisions affect each other. Make them together.

The Waterfall: three engines, one plan

Safety Engine

Protects the floor

Contractual guarantees from life insurance or annuities keep this money out of the market's way. It doubles as dry powder.

You: the insurance agent

Income Engine

Pays the bills

A liquid income mix that shifts toward Treasury bills when stress spreads across markets, so the paycheck doesn't depend on selling at the bottom.

Zoop Alpha advisor

Growth Engine

Does the heavy lifting

Built with Heavy Tail Optimization around the market's worst days, not its average ones, and re-checked every month.

Zoop Alpha advisor

Describe it. Don't promise it. Say "built for the market's worst days." Never say "protected from losses," "can't lose" or "beats the market." Heavy Tail Optimization is a way of building portfolios, not a guaranteed outcome. Guarantees in the Safety Engine come from the insurance carrier.

The conversations most investors never get

What your clients are probably not hearing.

Most advisors mean well. Many are working from a playbook written decades ago. These are your conversation starters, and every one is a concept, not an investment.

Your balanced portfolio wasn't balanced in 2022.

Stocks fell about 19%. Bonds fell about 13%. Same year. The cushion didn't show up when it was needed most.

Your risk score measured a feeling, not your finances.

Plenty of risk questionnaires blend how brave you feel with what your money can actually absorb. Those can point in opposite directions.

4% is a guess with a decimal point.

It comes from a 1994 study of past returns. Published "safe" rates since 2021 have ranged from about 3.3% to 4.7%.

The first few years of withdrawals matter most.

A bad market early in retirement, while you're selling to pay bills, can do damage the plan never recovers from. That's sequence-of-returns risk.

Your 401(k) has a silent partner: the IRS.

Tax-deferred isn't tax-free. RMDs force money out, which can raise Medicare premiums and the tax on Social Security. That's Tax Jail.

Nobody is coordinating your team.

The advisor, the CPA and the insurance agent can each be right from their own seat and still never see the whole board.

Using the Bad Tuesday Test

The Bad Tuesday Test asks two questions, not one.

Markets don't crash on a schedule. The test asks how your client would handle one ordinary Tuesday when everything drops, and it scores two things separately, because a plan has to survive both. It never asks for account or Social Security numbers.

Score 1 · Nerve

How much risk can they stomach?

Six questions about how they think and how they've actually acted in past downturns. Scored 0 to 100.

Score 2 · Numbers

How much risk can their money absorb?

Five questions about timeline, savings cushion, income and how much they'll lean on this money. Scored 0 to 100.

The overall score

Leans on the weaker of the two

70% on the lower score and 30% on the higher. Three more questions (amount invested, accredited investor, biggest worry) help the advisor prepare and don't change the score.

Gap flag

Nerve ahead of numbers

Comfortable with more risk than their timeline and cushion can absorb. Feels fine in good years, gets expensive in bad ones.

Gap flag

Numbers ahead of nerve

Their money could handle more ups and downs than they're comfortable with. Too much caution can quietly cost them over time.

No flag

Nerve and numbers aligned

The two line up. The next question is whether the way the money is invested today lines up too.

When they tell you their result

Be curious. Don't interpret. Ask: "What surprised you?" "Did your spouse get the same profile?" "Has anyone ever checked whether your accounts match that score?"

Then hand it off

"That's exactly what the advisor looks at. Would it be crazy to let them put your score next to your accounts?"

How it works

You open the door. We do the rest.

No portfolio reviews on your end, no statements to collect, no investment advice to give. Your job is the introduction, and the Safety Engine when it's part of the plan.

Send your link

Text, email, social post or a QR code at your next appointment. Use the scripts below.

They take the test

Fourteen questions, about three minutes. They see their profile, both scores and any gap flags right away.

Zoop Alpha follows up

The result lands in the Zoop Alpha CRM tagged with your Agent ID, and an advisor invites them to a no-pressure review.

One team builds the plan

The advisor compares the score with how the money is invested today. If a Waterfall fits, you handle the Safety Engine.

Ways to share

Copy, paste, send.

Keep it short, keep it curious, and let the test do the talking. Keep the wording as written; anything you change goes through Compliance Check first.

Done-for-you Facebook posts

Six posts. Your link and QR code already in them.

Each image has your personal QR code built in, and each caption has your link. Download the image, copy the caption, post. One a week covers you for six weeks. Instagram doesn't make links clickable, so the QR code does the work there.

Your six posts appear here as soon as your Agent ID is set, with your QR code in every image.

Refer advisors · The road to $500 million

Know an advisor who deserves a better platform?

Advisors are how Zoop Alpha reaches its goal, and every advisor we add is another licensed partner for the Waterfall cases our agents bring in. You know who's good, who's stuck, and who has talked about getting licensed for years.

$500MAssets under management

Our goal is $500 million in AUM, as fast as we can get there. 20 advisors with $25 million each gets us there. So do 50 advisors with $10 million each.

You don't have to find all of them. You have to find one. More advisors means faster help on your cases in more states, more advisors who need an insurance partner for the Safety Engine, and a stronger perimeter around every client we serve.

Who to send your Advisor Careers link to

  • Licensed advisors (Series 65 or 66) at a wirehouse, broker-dealer or their own firm, tired of selling a model portfolio.
  • Breakaway advisors wondering what their book is worth when they stop working.
  • Insurance professionals who hold or want a Series 65.
  • Career changers who want to become an advisor inside a real team.
  • CPAs and attorneys who want an investment partner for their clients. Zoop Alpha has a compliant promoter program for them.

What they'll find on the advisor page

  • Payout of up to 85% on the business they bring.
  • Points in a 15% Founder's Pool that vest when the firm reaches $500 million, with double points on assets that arrive before $100 million.
  • A real story to tell: the Waterfall, heavy-tail portfolio construction and the Bad Tuesday Test.
  • Schwab custody, no non-compete, and a 30 to 45 day transition the firm runs for them.
  • Cases from Zoop Benefits agents who need a licensed advisor.

Let the page and our team explain the details. Don't quote pay or equity terms yourself. Send your Advisor Careers link, or book them a Discovery Call with our team. Would it be ridiculous to send it to the one person who came to mind while reading this?

Keep it clean

The ground rules.

Zoop Alpha is an SEC-registered investment adviser. These keep you, your client and the firm out of trouble.

Do

  • Use your link every time so your client is credited to you.
  • Say what the test is: a free, three-minute educational questionnaire.
  • Use the handoff line whenever investments come up.
  • Keep the approved wording on this page as written.
  • Run anything new through Compliance Check at zoopalpha.com/compliance-check before you post it.
  • Use Zoop-approved, recorded channels for client business.

Don't

  • Don't recommend, name or compare any investment, fund or allocation.
  • Don't interpret the score or tell a client what to buy, sell or move.
  • Don't promise results, returns, "no risk" or protection from losses.
  • Don't criticize their current advisor. We win on the better question.
  • Don't collect statements, account numbers or passwords.
  • Don't accept pay for investment referrals without a Series 65 and a written agreement.

FAQ

Questions agents ask.

Do I need a securities license to share the test?

No. You're sharing a free educational questionnaire and making an introduction. Leave the investment conversation, the score and any recommendations to a Zoop Alpha advisor.

Can I talk about the Waterfall Strategy?

Yes, as a concept: three engines, each with one job. The Safety Engine is insurance and is your lane. How much goes in each engine, and what's inside the Income and Growth Engines, is the advisor's call.

Am I paid when my client becomes a Zoop Alpha client?

Not on the investment side unless you hold a Series 65 and a signed solicitor agreement. You stay the insurance agent on the Safety Engine, where you're licensed.

Is there a minimum for the Waterfall?

The Indexed Waterfall starts at $300,000 total. Any family can take the test and talk with an advisor.

What does my client see when they finish the test?

Their profile (Anchor, Harbor Pilot, Navigator, Blue-Water or Storm Chaser), their Nerve and Numbers scores, any gap flags and plain-English insights, plus an invitation to talk with an advisor. They can save or share their result.

Will I know who took the test from my link?

Every result from your link is tagged with your Agent ID in the Zoop Alpha CRM. If you think a client took it without your link, email [email protected] with their name.

What if my client already has an advisor they like?

The test is a second opinion, not a breakup. Zoop Alpha is glad to work alongside the professionals a family already trusts.

Can I post about Zoop Alpha on social media?

Yes, using the posts and wording on this page as written. Anything you write yourself goes through Compliance Check first. Reviews take about three business days.

Who do I ask about a case or an advisor referral?

A Zoop Alpha advisor. Book a case call from the button at the top of this page, or post in the Zoop Crew Community. Strategy time with Robert: zoopbenefits.com/bookrobert.

For Zoop Crew agents. Investment advisory services are offered only through Zoop Alpha LLC (dba Zoop Alpha Advisors), an investment adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Registration does not imply a certain level of skill or training. Insurance products are offered through Zoop Benefits and its licensed agents, an affiliate under common ownership; insurance commissions are a conflict of interest described in Form ADV Part 2A. Tax strategies are provided by affiliated Zoop Benefits professionals and your clients' own tax advisors; Zoop Alpha does not provide tax or legal advice.

The Bad Tuesday Test is an educational questionnaire. It is not investment, tax or legal advice and is not a recommendation of any security, strategy or product. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal. Heavy-tail optimization describes a portfolio construction approach, not an outcome; no strategy eliminates the risk of loss. See Form ADV Part 2A and Form CRS at zoopalpha.com/disclosures.
